Indonesian Government Concerned About Support for West Papuan Cause
When meeting of the International Parliamentarians for West Papua in london
Tabloid-Wani/Abc.Net.AuLast week, a group called “International Parliamentarians for West Papua”, including 17 current and former Australian members of parliament, met in London and signed a declaration calling for an internationally supervised vote on independence.

The Indonesian government says the meeting was a publicity stunt and it’s sent its own delegation to London to speak to British parliamentarians and church leaders about West Papua. An advisor to the Indonesian government on West Papua has acknowledged the strong international support for the West Papuan cause is causing angst for the Indonesian government.

Franzalbert Joku is an advisor with the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs in the Indonesian Government.
